Here at Men’s Shed, Chard, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. We strive to bring men together to connect, create, converse and build lasting friendships. The shed is open on Wednesday afternoons between 2pm and 5pm for social activities and Thursdays between 1pm and 5pm for woodwork activities. We are members of UK Men’s Shed Association

Woodwork

At Men’s Shed, Chard, our main activity is in woodworking. Members will have the opportunity to create their own projects and ‘bring them to life’ in our workshop. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.

Social

We also have one day a week for social activities at the shed. On this day you can access board games, pool table and darts or, if you prefer, prepare your next woodwork project. The shed is also considering an allotment type patch of ground for the keen gardner, together with a large greenhouse.

Power Tools

All Shedders will be inducted on how to use the available power tools safely by one of our number who has over 15 years experience in a workshop environment. If you don’t use a particular power tool for some time then no problem, just ask and you will be given a revision on how to use that equipment. All personal protection equipment, including ear defenders and safety glasses, are provided.

All Abilities Welcome

At this Men’s Shed, we have members of all abilities in the art of woodwork. The experienced men are only too willing to pass on and teach woodworking skills to others who are willing to learn. Our philosophy is this: it doesn’t matter how long it takes to complete a project but it will always be of a good standard that every individual will be proud of.
