The Foundation Course is the most popular Signalong course. It provides participants with the knowledge and skills to use key-word signing, and with the tools to independently locate, learn and use any sign from the Signalong database. Over 300 signs are explicitly taught and practised, and the training focuses on building participants’ confidence to sign as they speak with the people they support. This course includes elements of communication theory, is certificated by Signalong The Communication Charity and is mapped against the Speech, Language and Communication Framework (Universal and Enhanced competencies). Full certification requires participants to attend every session and pass a short assessment.
